If you’re an avid Instagram user, you’ve noticed the new feature on Instagram’s homepage. And you’ve also noticed its many similarities to Snapchat.
Instagram has about twice as many users as Snapchat (about 150 million more users to be more specific), and it’s much easier to gain a following on Instagram than Snapchat. The result of this is you are more likely to reach a wider audience with your story on Instagram, and rack up more views.
Also, Instagram has a pause feature that will be helpful for sharing written information such as names and links. You can pause a story on Instagram by holding down the video or image. On Snapchat, the only way to get a longer look at an image is to re watch the story, or screen shot the image. Of course you can screen shot and re watch on Instagram also, but it’s nice to have the pause option.
You can post to your Instagram Story by tapping the + button on the upper left corner of the screen.
Instagram is lacking the beloved Dog Filter, and other popular Snapchat filters. While Instagram is offering a neon marker to embellish stories, it doesn’t compare to the fun of turning yourself into a bumble bee or an alien.
Snapchat is much easier to navigate through stories. Snapchat dedicates the entire page to scroll through stories, making it easy to find your favorite accounts. Instagram only has a row at the top of the news feed for stories so it’s more difficult to scroll through accounts.
Overall, Instagram stories will be a great creative marketing tool for businesses that are having trouble building a following on Snapchat. Check out Instagram’s video on how to get started with Instagram Stories!
